Chicago Yacht Club Special Needs Cruise!

Volunteers Needed!

Tuesday, June 18th at Monroe Station

Looking for a good cause?Join us for the Chicago Yacht Club Power Fleet Special Needs Cruise. It is a Chicago Yacht Club Power Fleet tradition of very long standing to invite a group of mentally and physically challenged adults for a day at the Club and a ride on our boats. It is a day of smiles for our guests, but even more so for us. And we need you!

Any boat with a motor is welcome, and any club member who wants to crew on a boat with a motor is welcome. Our guests arrive at about 1100 hours and gather on the patio for a lunch of burgers, chips, and cookies. After lunch, we board and depart with an escort of the Chicago Marine Police for a cruise along the shoreline south to the museum campus and north to Navy Pier. Weather permitting, we might even get up to Oak Street.

The Chicago Fire Department Fire Boat has in the past graciously provided a show by doing a "practice run" at the end of Navy Pier. By 1400 hours we return to the dock and bid our guests farewell. Our guest list numbers about 140, so we need your boat! Please contact Lisa Curcio Gaston at [email protected] or 773.865.3274 to tell me you will volunteer. You will not regret it!
