BASIC RACE
MANAGEMENT SEMINAR
Saturday, April 13 | 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
This seminar is for people who have some Race Committee (RC) experience, but newcomers are also welcome. Topics include RC objectives and responsibilities, regatta safety, writing sailing instructions, RC jobs, equipment, setting the course, starting system, starting penalties, before the start, during the race, finishing and scoring.
Instructors are Fields Gunsett and Leif Sigmond. There is approximately 90-120 minutes of REQUIRED pre-course work prior to the In-Person session. Attendance is required to complete and pass the course. Please be sure to download the Racing Rules App here. About 10 days before your course begins, you will receive an email from Canvas Free for Teachers inviting you to participate in the course through Canvas, US Sailing’s online learning platform. Please click the "Get Started" link to complete your profile and access the required course materials. The lead instructor will email you with additional course information. CYC is also offering participants hands-on training Sunday April 14th during their Frostbite Series. More information and sign up for the hands-on portion here.
Lunch will be available to purchase at the Club.US Sailing course registration fee: $40.
A discounted US Sailing special introductory membership is available for first-timers during the registration process. Registration closes Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
Walk-In registrations are not allowed.
