About us

Your Home on the Water!™ Founded in 1875, Chicago Yacht Club is one of the oldest and most respected yacht clubs in the world. Its mission is to encourage, promote, and develop knowledge, participation, and enjoyment of all aspects of yachting. To that end, the Club hosts many world class competitions, including its signature Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac and numerous North American and World Championships. The Club is also recognized as a leader in sailing education, with one of the largest junior sailing programs in the United States. The Club is home to more than 1,400 members including a winning America’s Cup skipper, Olympic medalists and hopefuls, and outstanding boaters of all types, from ages 4 to 104. The Club offers year-round activities for its diverse membership at two locations on the city’s shoreline, at Monroe and Belmont Harbors. Learn more at chicagoyachtclub.org.

    Anchors aweigh! Last night's Prospective Member Reception at Chicago Yacht Club was an absolute hit! Our Club was buzzing with excitement as guests explored our Monroe Station, connected with fellow Members, and discovered the endless possibilities of nautical education and on-the-water experiences we offer.     WOW is hosting a #dinner spotlighting women in #leadership . Brunswick's Executive Vice President Brenna Preisser is the featured speaker. Preisser leads a portfolio of businesses including Freedom Boat Club - the largest national boat club operation in the industry. She also oversees financial services and new ventures such as Boateka, a direct-to-consumer pre-owned boat refurbishment and sales business, along with All Blue Planet, an enterprise social sustainability initiative to extend recreational water access. Chef Larry is providing a culinary pairing featuring Greek salad, a petite filet mignon and wild striped sea bass and Dauphinoise potatoes with roasted carrots..     The CYC Foundation is seeking to hire a part-time Communications Director to promote the various programs the Foundation runs and supports. The Communications Director will interface with the Foundation’s Marketing Committee and work collaboratively with the Board to execute on an exciting and ambitious strategic plan, which calls for rapid growth of the organization and meaningful positive impact on the lives of thousands of Chicago youth. Duties may include, but not be limited to, the following: 1.      Design, produce, and distribute the Foundation’s monthly Beacon newsletter, using Mail Chimp to design and distribute it. 2.      Draft articles for the Beacon, for other Foundation publications, and for publications of the Club. 3.      Maintenance of the Foundation’s website, utilizing Squarespace. 4.      Assist in developing content ideas and storylines to inform, educate, and garner support from our audience. 5.      Assist in maintaining Foundation social media channels, including, but not limited to Facebook and Instagram. 6.      Taking photographs at Foundation-related events. 7.      Design and produce the Foundation’s annual impact report.
