High School Program

High School Sailing

Chicago Yacht Club is proud to host one of the largest high school sailing programs in the Midwest district. Between the Sailing School's facilities located at Belmont Station and it's full and part-time coaches, the program has been able to grow to over 80 sailors. The Fall Season begins in Late August and continues through mid-November; the Spring Season starts in the beginning of March and runs through May. The program consists of 6 established high school teams: New Trier High School, Walter Payton College Prep, St. Ignatius College Prep, Latin School of Chicago, Lycee Francais de Chicago, and Rickover Naval Academy.

High school Fall sailing fees

While most of our high schools consider Sailing a Varsity sport, the cost of coaching and utilization of a sailboat are part of the fee structure to join sailing.  Individual teams may assess additional costs determined through the high school athletic department and separate from Chicago Yacht Club fees.  Following tryouts and receiving a spot on the respective team, requires registration no later than August 30th.  Late registration fee is $50 for any registrations on or after August 31st.
Please note all costs are subject to change.
