Collegiate, Junior, Sea Scouts Awards

The Sailing Activities Center in Belmont Harbor supports a host of activities, from sailing school to Sea Scouts racing in the Mac to collegiate regattas over Thanksgiving weekend to junior racing teams. These trophies, found in the cases at Belmont Station and in the Sailing Activities Center, recognize achievements by these sailors and their supporters. Most trophies are either named after or are donated by young sailors or those who have actively supported these programs.

  • Sollitt Trophy
    • Sollitt Trophy

The Sollitt Trophy was presented in 1947 by Commodore Sumner Sollitt as a permanent trophy for a three race series in the Star class, to be sailed on the Lipton Cup weekend.

This was an open event. In 2011, the Sollitt Trophy has been rededicated as an annual award for sportsmanship in the Junior Activities Program. The rededication was a unanimous decision by Brenda, Michael, and David Sollitt, all of the Sollitts by name in the club. The Sollitt Trophy as the top award for sportsmanship will join the Vlad Kobal Trophy for racing achievement as permanent trophies to be awarded annually to our best junior sailors.
