2025 Town Hall Meeting

Dear Chicago Yacht Club Members,

As many of you are aware,  our Club consists of an intricate balance of our offerings at two separate stations -  Monroe Station, which hosts much of our downtown presence, and our second station at Belmont Harbor which houses our on-the-water operations including our sailing school activities and fleet , adult learn to sail programs,  Race Committee, our regatta and educational support boats as well as our Sonar rental fleet.   We are in effect, One Club with two stations that allow us to provide an expansive array of activities for our members both on and off the water.  

Due to the limitations to building on Chicago’s lakefront- our on-land expansion is significantly limited and, in many cases, restricted at both locations.   In keeping with the mission of our Club, your Flag and Board of Directors have found it imperative that we continue to strive for excellence both in our on-the-water offerings and investment in our physical plant.
  ‘The mission of the Chicago Yacht Club is to encourage, promote, and develop knowledge, participation and enjoyment of all aspects of yachting.’
Over the past two years we have engaged in a review and analysis of the physical plant assets of our Club to determine the best path for the future. Our recommendations have been incorporated into a phased approach that has been named the 2025 Plan with a goal that it be fully funded and implemented by our club’s 150th anniversary in the year 2025 and set the stage for the Club’s future growth and vitality. 

The early parts of this plan were socialized in a series of townhall meetings in the first quarter of 2019 which were attended by well over 200 members.    

We have refined that plan and your Board of Directors have voted to proceed with advancing the 2025 plan into its next phase.
To help keep our fellow Club members informed we will be hosting
a club wide Townhall meeting on Thursday, June 20th
at Monroe Station 6:30 p.m.

We invite you to come down, learn more about the plan and understand what the next steps are for our Club to best prepare it for the future.
