Big Smoke I at Monroe Station.
BIG SMOKE I
Tuesday, June 11th | 6 p.m. | Monroe Station
Calling all cigar and whiskey lovers! Our first Big Smoke of the season is happening at Monroe Station and includes a smoker reception and Abelour single malt Scotch whisky sampling and dinner.
The
Aberlour Distillery
is at the heart of Speyside, Scotland’s premier whisky making region renowned for producing whiskies of subtle depth and elegance. The distillery was built in 1879 by James Fleming, a grain merchant turned distiller, entrepreneur and later—a great philanthropist. The proof of Fleming’s generosity can still be seen today in the Fleming Hall, the local hospital and the Penny Bridge across the River Spey. Aberlour is a Gaelic word meaning “the mouth of the chattering burn.” Water and an oak tree are displayed prominently on the Aberlour label. Fleming believed in letting the whisky speak for itself. This lives on today in his family motto “Let the Deed Show.”
MARKS TO BE SAMPLED:
Aberlour 12-Year-Old:
An elegant 12-year-old malt, this is suitable for all occasions. It is double-cask matured in bourbon and sherry casks, giving it a soft and round nose with fruity notes of red apple.

Aberlour 18-Year-Old:
This 18-year-old is rich and complex, with notes of toffee, milk chocolate and butterscotch combining with ripe-peach and bitter-orange-zest flavors. Matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, it tastes of fruity flavors balanced with rich chocolate, toffee and cinnamon notes and gentle ginger spiciness.
