Team Racing is a fun, fast growing form of the sport with more action per minute than your average day of racing. Whether you are a one design or big boat racer, team racing is a great way to improve your skills, including starting, tactics, boat handling, and understanding rules. There are opportunities for members of all levels to crew and skipper. We are inviting everyone from juniors looking to take their sailing to the next level to experienced offshore sailors looking for something new and fun.
Team racing teaches new skills in boat handling and winning races. When else do you have the opportunity to clamp down on another boat and stop them in their tracks? It instills a camaraderie among your teammates on your boat and those on your team (on other boats). At regattas, you even put aside the competition after racing and build camaraderie with sailors from other clubs across America.
Sailors of all strengths are valued in team racing. You can contribute your area of expertise - foredeck, trimming, helming, strategy, rules, short-course know-how, or physical strength - to a team's winning effort. Get involved and have some fun! These events are focused on learning all phases of team racing.
Teams will be assigned by the coach for practices. At each meeting we plan to run practice drills and races to raise everybody’s level. At the conclusion of each day, all sailors are invited to Belmont to enjoy a beverage while we debrief with video and lessons from the day.
