Chicago's unparalleled skyline flanks Chicago Yacht Club's Monroe Station providing premier views of beautiful Lake Michigan. Anchored by the bustling Loop as well as Grant, Millennium and the new Maggie Daley Parks, the clubhouse is at the very center of lakefront cultural, educational, and sports activities. We offer free parking to members - a tremendous value in the downtown area, which makes a visit here easy and convenient.
Breathtaking views of the lake can be seen from the club's main dining room or seasonal outdoor patio, while the informal Mac Bar and Captain's Cabin serve more casual fare. Members can relax with family or cast-on their own here, swapping boating stories or dining leisurely at the legendary member "round table."
The Monroe Station has a number of potential places to enjoy a snack or feast. The Main Dining Room provides a feeling of luxury while overlooking magnificent Monroe Harbor. The Mackinac Bar and the seasonal Patio also have a great view of the harbor, but have a more casual feel. Chef Larry Asher produces a great variety of delicious choices sure to please everyone. Monroe Station also has great venues for private event dining.
A wide variety of beverages both alcoholic and non are served in all of our dining venues. A rich selection of wines are offered by the bottle as well as by the glass. And, of course, some classic club cocktails will inspire you throughout the yachting season.
The Front Desk provides information about current activities at the Club. In addition the Front Desk also sells CYC apparel and merchandise which features the official yacht club logos. Visiting yachtsmen should check in at the Front Desk to receive their credentials for club usage.
Monroe Station has numerous slips available to members. Each Slip is complimentary to members for the first 5 hours. After 5 hours the price for members is $1.25 a foot per day. Visiting yachtsmen prices are $3.25 a foot per day from the time of docking to the time of departure. The docks are also available for overnight accommodations to members and visiting yachtsmen. The club's main offices are located Monroe Station. Monroe also houses the General Manager, Business Office, Communications, as well as the Human Resources.
Our Food and Beverage team is available to help members with meeting facilities or family celebrations. You can rest assure your event will receive expert attention from our professional planning staff and service team. The club can accommodate functions ranging from meetings of a few people to full wedding ceremonies and receptions for 200 people.
The Monroe Station hosts weekly, as well as, major nationally- ranked yacht racing. Weekly Beer Can Racing is featured every Wednesday during the sailing season. The Station is the venue for the Chicago NOOD, Chicago Race to Mackinac, Verve Cup Offshore, Great Lakes High School Championship, and Timme Angsten Regattas. Chicago Yacht Club's stately north side clubhouse sits floating off the shoreline of Belmont Harbor overlooking Lakeview to the north and Lincoln Park to the south. With the Sailing Activities Center adjacent to the clubhouse, we offer extensive meeting and private event opportunities to accommodate your needs, no matter the size or theme of your function.
As Chicago Yacht Club’s one-design sailing headquarters, Belmont is home to our renowned junior and adult sailing programs. Approximately 300 young boaters take part in our sailing school each season. Belmont Station also hosts various sailing activities throughout the year including competitive one-design class racing in Etchells, Shields, Luders and Vanguards. Weekly Chicago Match Racing Center races on Tuesday's during the season, Wednesday night Beer Can Racing runs in conjunction with Monroe Station during the summer, and the spring and fall Sunday Frost Bite Racing round out the yachting calendar.
The Club recently owns eleven 23' Sonars, with two specifically rigged for rec sailing for CYC members to rent and sail. In addition we own several paddle boards and kayaks for members to rent at a minimal rate.
Belmont offers a casual atmosphere for cruisers and racers alike. Just spend one afternoon in the floating clubhouse and you'll understand why our members love Belmont.

The Chicago Yacht Club hosts about 100 sailing regattas each year. To accomplish this a well trained and active Race Committee is required to ensure that we can deliver high quality racing at these regattas. Belmont Station is the home of the Race Committee. The Race Committee is comprised of both members and non-members. The Club welcomes people who would be interested in learning about yacht racing and being part of the Race Committee. The Club offers training including certification by US Sailing on a regular basis. Contact the Regatta Manager to learn more.
Docking in Chicago is controlled by the Chicago Park District. The Club does have a limited number of docks for members to load in crew and provisions at no charge for up to 5 hours. Belmont Station also has a Gin Pole to assist with mast stepping, and three jib cranes for launching and retrieving yachts less than 5 tons.
Our Sailing School offers lessons to juniors interested in getting involved in sailing. Starting with "Dinghy Demons" for our smallest of sailors, this program is designed for the little children who have learned to swim to become advanced sailors, competing at a national level. All instruction is administered by our professional US Sailing Certified staff, as well as American Red Cross, and supported by collegiate All-American sailors. The school has a fleet of Bugs, Optimists, Club 420's and Sonars for instruction. The sailing school is available to both members and non-members, and all classes are filled by early spring.
SONARS, PADDLE BOARD AND KAYAK RENTAL
We use Sonars for our Adult learn-to-sail platform. Our instructors, certified by US Sailing and American Red Cross, use the US Sailing Keelboat curriculum. Successful completion of the course provides the student with training required to receive their certification.
Members are able to rent the Sonars to do free-style sailing. Additionally, they are welcome to compete in various yacht racing activities offered by the club such as Frostbiting and Team Racing.
Paddle Boards and Kayaks are now available for members to rent and enjoy as well!
A mixture of a la carte dining as well as buffets offer rich variety food stylings for members to enjoy.
A class that has both classroom and on the water training, helps to enhance skill sets for boaters who handle small motor boats. The class using certified instructors from US Power Boating, provides a certificate upon completion. The class is available to both members and non-members.
Belmont Station hosts many sail racing events weekly during the sailing season.
DINGHY SPACES AND LOCKERS
There are a number of dinghy spaces, men's and women's locker room lockers and sail lockers available to CYC members.
