Sailboat Racing Series
Wednesday Night Racing Series
Chicago Yacht Club offers a wide variety of sailboat racing opportunities. Many events are open to the public while some events are for Chicago Yacht Club members only. There also are opportunities for Members and Non-members to get involved by crewing on a Member's boat or joining our very active Race Committee and learn the ins and outs of running a Sailboat race.

We race out of our Monroe Station and Belmont Station Wednesday nights starting mid May through September. Our Wednesday Night Racing Series include competitive programs that are run in a more relaxed family friendly manner with a great BBQ and awards party at the end of each night of racing.
We encourage our members to get out on the water with their families and friends to try their hand at racing. Wednesday Night races are a little less formal than weekend races, a lot more family-oriented and a whole lot of fun! We try to provide a learning/teaching experience and a 'give it a try' attitude for those new to racing. One of our mottoes is: If you know the rules, follow them, if you don't know the rules, try to learn one today.
The Wednesday Night races are always a great time to introduce your family or friends to racing, or to try your existing crew at new positions or with new maneuvers. We also encourage new or experienced sailors without a boat to come down to either Harbor and find a 'ride' or email the respective Skyline Station Chair and they will find you a ride.

Racing Yacht Fleet
The club has active fleets of Shields, Luder 16s, and Etchells that race on Saturdays from mid-May through October at the Belmont Station. These fleets are joined on several Saturdays by our T-Ten, Beneteau 36.7, J/111 fleets. Many of these boats are often looking for crew so be sure to access Crew Finder to post your credentials and see who is looking for an extra hand.
From March until May, and again from October through November, the club offers Frostbite sailing out of the Belmont Station. Both members and non-members are welcome to come compete and enjoy Belmont each day after racing. Invited fleets are 420's, Lasers, V-15s, and Sonars. As the name suggests the wind and the water may be cold, but the competition is hot and fun. Click here to find out how to join the fun.
The Offshore Fleet has a wide variety of racing, both club sponsored and through the Area III Lake Michigan Sail Racing Federation.
