Our Committment
One of our greatest assets is the Chicago Yacht Club’s commitment to on-the-water activities. Founded in 1875 with the goal of advancing the community’s knowledge, enjoyment and participation in boating and the nautical arts, Chicago Yacht Club remains a valuable resource for its members and for the Chicago community. In fact, Yachting Magazine declared the Chicago Yacht Club “one of the country’s most distinguished yacht clubs.”
Today, our commitment to on-the-water activities continues. Chicago Yacht Club is a preeminent organizer and host of regattas, races and predicted log contests in the United States. No other yacht club presents more national-level racing. The Club has always dedicated significant resources and effort to promoting the events and activities that draw so many of us to yachting. Because of our extremely active and devoted volunteer base within the Club, we find ourselves with yachting events that are consistently successful.
Our on-the-water activities focus on interests of our racing sailors, cruising sailors, and our power squadron. The events fall primarily in the following categories; offshore and one design racing, powerboat predicted log contests, and the relaxed cruising of both the sail and power fleets.
Whether you are a new-comer enrolled in our nationally recognized sailing school, or an “old salt” with seasoned sea legs, the club is sure to satisfy your on and off the water interest, whether it be wind, fuel, or oars that propel you.
